Case Study: Clinically Relevant NASH Animal Model

In this case study, we demonstrate clinical relevance of the HFD+CCL4 (high-fat diet and carbon tetrachloride) NASH animal model.

Improvement of hepatic fibrosis has been a challenging endpoint in NASH clinical trials and selecting animal models that show anti-fibrotic efficacy has been equally challenging for the preclinical development of new NASH drugs.  Our findings indicate that the in vivo efficacy observed in the HFD+CCL4 model is reflective of clinical outcome, since the extra fibrosis induced in this model is related to NASH clinical observations.
