An Effective System for Senescence Modulating Drug Development

Cellular senescence plays a crucial role in aging and age-related diseases, making its study essential for the development of new anti-senescence therapies, including senolytics and senomorphics. Research on senescent cells and their effects on tissues is a major focus in aging research for developing drugs that target these cells to combat age-related dysfunction.
In this publication, WuXi AppTec scientists describe the development of an effective and reproducible multiplex high-content analysis system for high-throughput screening and evaluation of senescence modulators. In a single high-throughput screen, the authors show that all three types of senomorphic, senolytic, and seno-inducing agents can be evaluated effectively, in a quantitative manner.
