OncoWuXi Express: PDX Panel Service
OncoWuXi Express will continue to keep you informed about updates to our online tumor model database (OncoWuXi Database), as well as our recent progress in cancer and autoimmune research. In this issue, we would like to share our newly launched PDX panel service with you.

Introduction:
Patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models are generated by implanting surgically resected patient tumor tissues into immunodeficient mice. These models have been extensively applied in preclinical anticancer drug testing, biomarker discovery, translational research, and precision medicine due to their clinical relevance and faithful representation of the original patient tumors.
WuXi Biology has developed over 1,500 PDX models across 30 cancer types. These models are comprehensively characterized to meet the high standards of translational cancer research. At WuXi Biology, several ready-to-go PDX panels with specific designs based on cancer type or target information are routinely maintained in live mice for a more cost-effective operation and quicker turn-around time of PDX panel studies.
Herein, we highlight an ongoing PDX panel comprising 115 models covering 9 cancer types including pancreatic, gastric, and breast cancer. Enrollment into this panel is open until August 30th, 2024. Don’t miss out on this platform to accelerate the screening of your therapeutics.
Options for sub-panels designed on top of the master panel are shown below:
Our PDX panels possess:
- In-depth Characterization: By clinical information, genetic and molecular characterization, histopathology and tissue microarray (TMA) based biomarkers, and in vivo pharmacology including growth kinetics and drug sensitivity data. (Data available at OncoWuXi database: https://onco.wuxiapptec.com)
- Time Effectiveness: All PDX models in our panels have been kept in live mice for immediate study initiation.
- Cost Effectiveness: Volume-based discount is available by inquiry
- Flexibility: No limitation on the animal number or the size of study; Customized panel design and flexible read-outs.
