How Does It Work? | Peptibodies

#Research has explored the ways to extend the half-life of peptide drugs. One innovative way to achieve this is by fusing #therapeutic peptides to the Fc region of an antibody to create what is known as a peptibody.

When the peptibody is naturally taken up by cells it binds to an Fc (antibody) receptor within organelles called endosomes. Any unbound proteins are degraded, whereas the peptibody is released back into circulation.

Overall, these features can extend the drug half-life and improve the treatment regimens for #patients.
