EpCAM-CD3 BsAb-Encoding mRNA Suppresses Lung Tumors

Bispecific antibodies have emerged as an important modality in oncology, although their broader application can be limited by manufacturing complexity and short serum half-lives. mRNA therapeutics, combined with advances in targeted delivery technologies, may offer new opportunities to address these challenges.

At AACR 2026, WuXi Biology presented a lung-targeted lipid nanoparticle (LNP) platform designed to deliver mRNA encoding an EpCAM-CD3 bispecific antibody. In mouse models, this approach promoted T-cell activation and cytotoxicity, leading to significant inhibition of orthotopic tumor growth.

As interest in mRNA therapeutics continues to expand beyond vaccines, approaches that combine targeted delivery with the flexibility of mRNA-encoded biologics may open new possibilities for the treatment of solid tumors.
